New Composition - Durge Maa

Durge Maa – A Devotional Offering by Souryadeep & the Students of Swarmalika Academy

I warmly invite you to listen to Durge Maa—feel the devotion, celebrate the spirit, and let Maa Durga’s presence fill your heart.

Durge Maa is one of the most special compositions I have ever written. It is also my very first devotional song, created for the students of my parents’ academy, Swarmalika. While I may have composed and written the piece, the true life of this song flows from the voices of the students who sang it with such faith and love.

From the youngest learners to the senior disciples, every student brought their own devotion into the music. The innocence of the little ones, the strength of the older voices, and the harmony of all singing together made Durge Maa feel like more than just a composition—it became a collective prayer. Listening to them, I felt as if Maa Durga herself was blessing the song through their voices.

This offering would not have been complete without the guidance and blessings of our gurus (also my parents)—Pt. Tushar Chatterjee and Smt. Ranjana Tushar Chatterjee. Their divine shloka at the very beginning of the song set the spiritual foundation, and their constant guidance shaped the entire journey of Durge Maa.

At its core, Durge Maa is a song of bhakti—full of surrender, reverence, and devotion—yet it is also a celebration. Its melodies carry the spirit of Durga Puja and Navratri, inviting both prayer and dance. The lyrics bring together many names of the Goddess, reflecting her countless forms and universal presence. She is one, she is many, and she belongs to everyone.

Though rooted in tradition, the song carries a timeless essence. It is not only for the festive season—it is something you can return to whenever you seek strength, peace, or a reminder of Maa’s eternal power.

For me, Durge Maa is more than a song—it is an offering. An offering from the students who gave it their heart, from my gurus who guided its soul, and from me as a humble composer weaving it all together.
